Mad as a Hatter!

Finally! A break! I can't believe how busy I've been. It's gonna be CRAZY when school starts... Yesterday I took a hat class from my teacher. I'm about 90% sure that the hatter was mad because of the chemicals used in hat making. Any way, back on track... It was SO fun!! I didn't get all the way finished which is super depressing because we started at 8:30 am and went till 5:30 pm. I have a new found respect/obsession with hat making. I had no idea how much went into it I sorta figured you could just slap some stuff together and call it good. Negatory. My fingers were bleeding. My hands were cramping. My eyes bluring. Tears falling (just kidding thought I'd be dramatic) It was seriously one of the funnest things I've done of late. Does that make me weird? Oh well. I'll post a few pics of the process. I was in the zone so I kept forgetting to take pics. SORRY!
I think I mentioned before that I was going to be taking classes from my teacher all summer... WELL that started today! My friend Collin and I are working on CORSETS! We're making an early 19th century one because my teacher is all about being historically accurate. We made a mock up today to fit me and make corrections on the pattern and even without all the boning you can't breath. So there's that. Super exciting. However, holy curves. I was like dayuuum. I'm going home again this weekend to the better fabric stores to get some BOMB covering for it. Hollah.

I apparently stitched the brim wrong so I need to re-do that, I also have to tack down my pleats, line the inside, and I'm going to make a black meshy/vailie flower to attach to the side as well. There's a good chance I won't wear it ever, but at least I get to buy a sa-weet hat box right?!
